For San Francisco
This project gave me an opportunity to apply my materials experience to a social challenge outside my usual work. I contributed to a pro bono project exploring tension-fabric structures intended to provide shelter for women experiencing homelessness. While it did not reach it’s intended mission, it is an example of the exploratory design work I enjoy: investigating unfamiliar applications for materials and helping a team make early concepts tangible enough to discuss, prototype, and evaluate.
My role focused on advanced material research, color and material development, and visualizations that helped communicate possible design directions to the team lead and fabricators.
